Dear Friends; 

It's Summer again, and like many of you I am taking time to enjoy my family, and take care of my body. I like to call this issue the "Back to Basics Summer." In Health Corner I address the issue of proper rest. A powerful tool for good health. If you have worked hard all year, and even if you have not -- you deserve and need to take time to restore your energies and enjoy yourself. The Bible says a merry heart is like good medicine. So, after a good night's sleep it's about stimulating those endorphins in your brain. Exercise, walk, dance, play, create, sing, paint, write, wiggle your toes in the sand. Like the Nike commercial says -- "Just Do It!" LIVE the abundant marvelous life God has given to you. While you spend some time reconnecting with family and friends and the things you love to do most.

On that note, DEC now host CAFE' D, a safe place for young people to hang at night. Each month (the fourth or fifth Saturday), we offer a fun night of food, healthy drinks, prizes, a DJ, entertainment, special guest, vendors, open mic -- and more! Just for the fun and relaxation of it. Because we believe that God is concerned about the whole man, mind, spirit and body. You can RSVP via facebook, or just show up at the Shanley Street entrance of the Alee P. Nichol Community Cultural Arts Center (APNCCAC). Doors open at 8 pm, and the show starts promptly at nine. Giving you enough time to have a bite, make new friends, or just relax prior to the show.

Well, my Bible tells me a word to the wise is sufficient. Have to get back to my own leisure time! I hope you accept this Pastor's advice and enjoy your summer. If you happen to be in the New York metropolitan area during your travels, please plan to stop by and visit us. We are just a train and short bus ride away from Penn Station. "Springtime" is a word that evokes a multitude of ideas and feelings for most people. It is thee season of transformation, encompassing the ideas of rebirth, renewal and re-growth. The one time of year when God virtually shows off! Bringing forth in bold bright colors all the bountiful beauty of earth. The sun shines vibrantly, birds sing blissfully, and every living thing seems to begin to blossom -- even us! As God nourishes that which has been dormant all winter...

Counting on 10...

Here we are embarking on the last year in the first decade of a brand new century 2010. The number ten is considered one of the perfect numbers. It signifies the perfection of Divine order, commencing, as it does, an altogether new series of numbers. The first decade is the representative of the whole numeral system, and originates the system of calculation called "decimals," because the whole system of numeration consists of so many tens, of which the first is a type of the whole. 

In other words ten represents completeness of order. It implies that nothing is wanting; that the number and order are perfect; that the whole cycle is complete. 

In the Bible Noah completed the antediluvian age in the tenth generation from God (Genesis 5). Moses was given the Ten Commandments, which the essentials for a healthy spiritual life (Exodus 20:2–17 and Deuteronomy 5:6–21). Asa, was given ten years of peace, because he did good in the sight of God (2 Chronicles 14:1). And, the Lord's prayer is complete in ten clauses (Matt)hew 6:9-13.

Since the beginning of the year, God has been speaking into my heart that 2010 is a year that represents the new order of things. It is a season of trust, to include God in every aspect of your life. To rest in His care as you go about helping to build up others and your community. 

Joseph Campbell said: "We save the world by being alive ourselves." While you are busy practicing new year goals and resolutions don't forget that all your plans begin first in the heart. Consider committing your efforts to God that he may establish you in His perfect PEACE! I dare you to trust Him to make this the best year of your life.... 

Don't forget to plan to stop by Deliverance and visit us when you are in the area.

Hello Friend:

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers (and sisters) to dwell together in unity! …It is like dew on Mount Hermon, which comes down on Zion's mountains. That is where the LORD promised the blessing of eternal life” Psalm 133:3 declares.

This psalm is a brief commentary on the benefit of unity and brotherly love, and in effect it is talking about the way to live a healthy life. …Today, I was reminded of a woman who hoarded all that came into her life. She had plenty of money, material possessions, even prominence in the community. Still she was not happy. Never content, always seemingly grabbing for more. Rarely concerned about how her actions affected others. …Dear friend: there is not enough wealth in the world to make us happy a part from Christ. Accomplishments, accolades – all become empty clanging cymbals without true love, which we only develop by being in a committed intimate relationship with God. None of us are perfect. We all have issues we need to deal with in our personal lives. But God promises if we give Him a chance, He will in time help us resolve every problem troubling us.

Your physical, spiritual, emotional health, are all tied together, and depend on peaceful coexistence in community with others. That’s why we have made the focus of Deliverance Voice a range of articles that deal with the whole person, because we believe in the importance of unity internally as well as externally. I invite you today to spend some time working on who you are on the inside. Take time this week to worship with us or in your local church. It’s the best investment for your future you will ever make.

IT’S HARVEST TIME!
That’s the word God has given me for this hour. Meaning that it is very important for people to understand that now is the time to get rooted and grounded in spiritual nourishment and personal growth. God wants all of us to be adequately prepared for every set of circumstances that come into our lives. So, it’s time to make quality decisions about working on the real you – who you are on the inside…

At DEC we are praying therefore to the Lord of the Harvest (Matthew 9:37-38) for laborers and invite you to come join us. Either by inviting other in or coming yourself, your destiny, your future, the desires of your heart, are right at your fingertips, and it can start today. With a simple decision to follow Christ as savior, you can begin to live a brand new life of peace and daily assurance….

To make sure you really feel welcomed, all summer long we have been having “Come As You Are” Sundays… Jeans, sneakers, t-shirts, are all OK. What ever makes you comfortable, just come. Bring your family and come worship with us. God has promised: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28) With all the uncertainty in the world today things can change in an instant. Only God is constant. He is thee reliable shelter. Come study His Word with us. It’s the best investment you will ever make.

Dear Friend,
I greet you in Jesus Name. In 1978, I took a trip to the Holy Land to walk where Jesus walked. I visited the tomb where they buried Him, and it had a sign written on the door that said: “HE IS NOT HERE – HE HAS RISEN.” They allowed us to look in and they were right – He was not there… He did just what He said he was going to do –

He arose from the dead! Talking and walking with his disciples for about 40 days before ascending into heaven, He told them to wait in Jerusalem until they received the power of the Holy Spirit into their lives. Today, He sits on the right hand of the Father in heaven interceding in behalf of you and me. God’s plan for you is to be saved. John 3:16 say, “for God so loved the world (you, me and everybody) that He gave his only Son” that we would have the opportunity for everlasting life beyond our time here on earth. He also promised that we would not be alone in this process because God would send a Comforter His Spirit who would be with us always here on earth. Therefore, my wish for you today, is that you would accept Jesus as Lord, and get to know first hand the best friend you could ever imagine through the presence of the Holy Spirit’s help.

We want you to know that Deliverance Evangelistic Center (DEC) is first and foremost a family church, a place to feel comfortable, belong, and gain practical information.
